The aging of Polish society is an ongoing and inevitable phenomenon. As a result, there is an increased demand for professional assistants to support and assist the functioning of elderly, sick, and disabled people; caregivers who are empathetic and prepared to understand these people’s situations.

As part of second-cycle studies in the specialty of assistant for the elderly and disabled person with German, the student will expand his/her knowledge in psychology, pedagogy, including special pedagogy, sociology, first aid, rehabilitation, or social work with dependent persons. The graduate will develop and deepen the ability to recognize the possibilities and limitations in the functioning of the elderly or disabled person resulting from their health status and the degree and type of disability. The aim of the studies is to prepare qualified assistant staff ready to provide comprehensive and specialized care for the elderly and/or disabled people, prepared for their social and professional reintegration.

Graduates will acquire the competencies necessary to properly select methods, techniques, and tools for the effective implementation of caregiving and educational activities supporting the life situation and needs of the elderly and disabled people.

The combination of pedagogical education with learning German will enable graduates to take up employment both in Poland and abroad – in Europe and around the world. Language training at second-degree studies includes vocabulary and issues essential for caring for the elderly and disabled people, with particular emphasis on the development of practical competencies.
