The Higher School of Administration in Bielsko-Biała, after receiving funds as part of the project titled “WSA Connects – Program for Increasing the Accessibility of the Higher School of Administration in Bielsko-Biała”, co-financed by the European Social Fund within the Operational Program Knowledge Education Development, Priority Axis III. Higher Education for the Economy and Development, Action 3.5 Comprehensive Higher Education Programs, has undertaken various actions aimed at adapting the University to the needs of people with disabilities and equalizing their educational opportunities.

As part of the project, the Office for Persons with Disabilities was established in January 2021, which continues to work for disabled students. It cooperates with the University authorities to increase accessibility for people with disabilities. The Office’s task is to provide assistance and support to disabled students in both educational matters and integration in the academic environment. In addition, the Office undertakes actions aimed at increasing the qualifications of students in the labor market.

The Office seeks common optimal solutions in the field of:

• changes in legal regulations
• financial support (scholarships for disabled people)
• helping the Rector’s Representative for People with Disabilities in solving individual problems of people with disabilities
• eliminating architectural barriers
• purchase of specialist equipment and software to facilitate education for people with various health dysfunctions
• increasing the awareness of university staff and non-disabled students, changing their attitudes towards people with disabilities and breaking stereotypes
