Description of the direction:

The need for security is one of the fundamental needs of every human being, and the uncertainty and social mood at the dawn of the 21st century make it increasingly necessary to use the help of specialists in the field of internal security of the state. The growing threat of terrorism, strong and unpredictable weather phenomena, dangers looming in cyberspace, transport or construction disasters, or ecological disasters cause anxiety among citizens. Properly prepared protection systems and qualified specialists can contribute to the elimination or limitation of threats not only on a national scale, but also in Europe and the world. If you want to join the ranks of security specialists – this direction is created just for you. First degree studies in the field of Internal Security are interdisciplinary in nature. During the studies, you will get to know and deepen your knowledge in many fields. You will learn how to cope in crisis situations and in moments of danger. You can expect interesting, innovative, and practically oriented subjects, such as special services’ operational methods and techniques, basics of cyber security, combating crime, or penitentiary science. The professional academic and teaching staff, including active police officers and security specialists, will ensure that they provide you with knowledge in an interesting and accessible way, using various activating methods and techniques, but above all, a lot of practical advice and tips based on their own, many years of experience, which you will not read in any academic textbook. This is a huge advantage of practical studies, which are the domain of the WSA.

Specialties:

For the Internal Security direction, we propose to choose one of the five attractive specialties: forensics and criminology, police formations, protection of people and property, cyber security, or crisis management. In the era of the pandemic and economic crisis, uniformed services are experiencing their renaissance due to the stability of employment and attractive remuneration. Security specialists are sought after in many areas of social, political, or economic life due to wide employment prospects. The competencies acquired during the education and the experience gained will allow our graduates to plan and coordinate operations aimed at maintaining a sense of security among the residents of the district, voivodeship, and also the country, to plan preventive actions used in the activities of the army, police, border guard, or customs offices, and to counteract threats of a criminal, terrorist, cybernetic nature.
