The aging of Polish society is a progressive and inevitable phenomenon. As a result, there is an increased demand for professional assistants who support and facilitate the functioning of elderly, sick, and disabled people; caregivers who are empathic and prepared to understand the situations of these individuals.

Within the framework of first-cycle studies specializing in assistance to the elderly and disabled with the German language, the student will gain basic knowledge in the fields of psychology, pedagogy, including special education, sociology, first aid, rehabilitation, and social work with dependent persons. They will get acquainted with the course and difficulties associated with adaptation, revalidation, and rehabilitation processes. The graduate will acquire the skill of recognizing the possibilities and limitations in the functioning of the elderly or disabled person resulting from their health condition as well as the degree and type of disability. The aim of the studies is to prepare a qualified cadre of assistants ready to provide comprehensive and specialized care for the elderly and/or disabled, accepting these individuals with all their weaknesses, and prepared for their social and professional reintegration. Graduates will acquire the competencies necessary for the proper selection of methods, techniques, and tools for the effective implementation of care and educational activities supporting the life situation and needs of elderly and disabled people.

Combining pedagogical education with learning the German language will enable graduates to find employment both in Poland and abroad – in Europe and worldwide. Language training includes basic vocabulary and issues important for the care of elderly and disabled people, with particular emphasis on the development of practical competencies.
